Causes of Obstructive azoospermia

Vasectomy: Obstructive azoospermia commonly results from previous vasectomy and other causes. This surgical procedure stops the sperm flow from the sperm ducts.

Tubal blockage: Obstructive azoospermia may result from a blockage in any tube that leads from the testicle to the opening tip of the penis such as Vas Deferens, Ejaculatory duct, and Epididymis. Vas deferens obstruction is commonly caused by vasectomy.

Infection: Severe urinary infection, genital infection, injury during inguinal or scrotal surgery, venereal diseases such as Chlamydia, prostatitis which could cause a blockage in small tubules of Epididymis or ejaculatory ducts.

Congenital anomalies: Some men are born with missing vas deferens, a genetic problem similar to a vasectomy. Other men are born with a prostate cyst that blocks the ejaculatory ducts.

Surgical Complications: Hernia repair or urogenital surgeries can result in scarring that would lead to a blockage.
